Frequently asked questions

Using Our Design Tools

Q. Can I upload a 3D file to import my products?

Uploading 3D files is not possible at the moment. However, using compound shapes in the CaseCreator tool will allow you to create more complex designs. If you layer multiple shapes with the exact same depth, our machines will cut out a single compartment in the desired shape. The 3D preview will give you an impression of how your inlay will look.

Q. What material are the inlays made of?

Every case will have soft S22 polyurethane in its lid. The bottom inlay you will be made of rigid foam (NA36 polyethylene).

Q. Why are the shapes I have drawn changing automatically?

During drawing, our system frequently checks if your design is manufacturable. This may cause certain shapes to be rounded.

Q. Can I select a different case once I have already designed my inlay?

Yes. Please keep in mind that you can only select cases that can hold the inlay you have designed.

Q. Can I measure my design?

Yes. Our design tool has a measurement function. This function has three different rulers: one for vertical measurements, one for horizontal measurements and one for diagonal measurements.

Q. How do I measure my design?

Click the measurement function icon to make the rulers appear. Use your mouse to drag the green dots to the parts of the design you would like to measure. You can move the green dots independently of each other. All measurements are in millimetres. Click the measurement function icon again to make the rulers disappear.

Q. Why can I not place my cut-outs closer to one another?

The red border around a cut-out indicates that the cut-out is located within the minimal margin of another cut-out. If a cut-out is placed within that margin, it will automatically be put back in its previous position.

Q. Why can I not make my cut-outs deeper?

Some shapes have a limited depth by default. Try using a bigger radius or width to increase the depth.

Q. How can I alter or move shapes?

Compatibility

Q. Why does a pop-up appear when I want to view the 3D preview of my design?

If you are using Windows Internet Explorer, installing an additional plug-in may be necessary in order to view 3D previews. Other browsers, such as Google Chrome, do not require additional plug-ins.

Q. Why can I not rotate my 3D preview?

Rotating the foam inlay in 3D is not possible if you are using a terminal server.

Q. When will my inlay consist of multiple layers?

The foam inlay will consist of multiple layers if the foam has a height of greater than 100 millimetres.

Using CaseCreator.com

Q. What material are the inlays made of?

Every case will have soft S22 polyurethane in its lid. The bottom inlay you will be made of rigid foam (NA36 polyethylene).

Q. Can I draw cut-outs on the foam on the inside of the lid?

No. Only the bottom inlay will be milled. If the bottom inlay consists of multiple layers, these layers will be glued together.

Q. How big is the margin between the outer case and the part of the inlay I can design?

You cannot draw any cut-outs within a margin of 15 millimetres from the edge of your foam inlay in order to ensure optimal protection. In addition, there will also be a margin of at least 10 millimetres from the bottom of your inlay.

Q. Can I order a foam inlay without ordering a case?

If you already have a case and you only need a protective foam inlay, it is possible to only order a custom inlay. Instead of selecting a case to go with the inlay, you can enter the dimensions of your case interior. Also, you do not need to order the same number of cases and inlays.

Q. Why is the website so slow?

Multiple performance issues have been reported by customers who use Windows Internet Explorer. Please try using a different browser. We suggest using Google Chrome, a fast and stable browser. Click here to download Google Chrome.

Q. Can I order my custom inlay from any country?

At the moment, custom inlays created via CaseCreator can only be shipped to addresses within the European Union. We are working on options to ship our cases and custom interiors to different countries. Please sign up for the CaseCreator newsletter if you want to stay informed about our international shipping options.

Q. How can I change the quantities in my shopping cart?

If you change the number of cases or inlays you want to order during check-out, please click "apply" to process the changes.

Q. Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Please select PayPal as your secure payment method. Once you have been redirected to PayPal's secure environment, select the option "Pay with a Credit Card".

Q. Why does the price of my inlay increase when I add more cut-outs?

The more cut-outs you add to your design, the more material our machines will have to cut out of the foam. This will increase the price of your inlay. Using a large radius is generally the most cost-effective option, as that allows us to use a large milling cutter. Compartments designed with a small radius require a longer time to cut out and will therefore be more costly.

Q. Do I need to draw finger grips into my inlay?

Finger grips may be convenient for taking your items out of the case. You can use the circle or the rounded line shapes in our design tool to draw these grips. Please watch this video for more information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqBXMNoNmrs.
